SCAM ALERT - waffleatewalter
I sincerely hope this is allowed. If not, I'll delete it - but I think this is the type of thing it might be nice for others to know about.

I recently posted my new selling journal to this community. I received a message from waffleatewalter asking to purchase a Michishige Sayumi guitar pick. We decided on a price and shipping, and she sent me paypal. I proceeded to get the guitar pick in the mail and set the item to "shipped" within paypal.

Next thing I know, I have an email from the paypal account's email asking me what on earth this was, they didn't order anything, and asking how it was paid for. I sent back that I had sent a guitar pick to their address, and received a reply that "Oh, nevermind, my granddaughter forgot to tell me she bought it." I thought all was solved at this point.

Imagine my surprise when I came home from a weekend in Tokyo to a paypal dispute for an unauthorized charge. I emailed "grandma" and asked her what on earth was going on and got "CALL PAYPAL".   I pointed out that I am in Japan and advised her she might want to cancel from her end. Now she is emailing back saying she doesn't HAVE a granddaughter. She brought the granddaughter thing up in the first place, and quite frankly I am beginning to wonder if she is even a grandmother, period.

Either way, if it turns out that a screen cap of her email to me and my receipt from the post office are not enough, I am out both money AND a guitar pick and I am rather angry about this. So that being said - sellers beware. waffleatewalter seems fishy to me.

This would be the second time I've seen her name popped up as a scam. I think the first time was with her not sending out items, but I'm not quiet sure. I wish you good luck with everything.

Great.

Well, I can hope that paypal finds the email I was first sent and my receipt from the post office as proof of shipping, but I guess I don't know for sure they will.

Thanks for the luck, though. Is there a list somewhere around here of bad buyers that I just completely missed?

There you go. I knew I remember seeing it somewhere.

Yeah, I found that after you mentioned it. x_X

I was wondering if there was a central list, though. It'd be nice, though time-consuming to make/update.

...yes, indeed it is!

Though she's not on the list, sadly. But still! Yes! Thank you!

I've never bought anything from this person, but I have also seen their username in conjunction to a faulty transaction before here at garagesalejapan. Just a heads-up.

Thanks for the heads-up. Kind of wish I'd thought to ask for feedback or something before selling. x.x; Guess I should start doing that or something, I don't know.

Sorry. I hope you get your money back, or the guitar pick, or both. I think it's just downright low for people to scam like that. Karma will come back around.

I would definately ask for refrence when dealing with anyone!!! Most buyers and sellers either have a LJ where they have the following:
* Folder for leaving feedback in their personal LJ account for public viewing
* Auction section on e-bay with feedback
* A group listing in a different section (Like for Sailor Moon items, a group where you advertise them, (Serasell) keeps tabs of feedback on all Sailor Moon related sales from their site.)

It's good manners and good honest people that will provide these and it will match their name I might add. I would place them in a backlist in your LJ so you don't forget her name for next time.

Will do, and hopefully the other two sales I had don't go like this. Bleh.

Okay, in the future - feedback before buying. End of story. And actually... probably verification of feedback before buying, too. Pain in the ass, but less money lost I bet.

It really is sad. I love to trade and buy lots of different things from Japan but there are those that give people issue and then everyone gets lumped as a bad buyers, seller, trader... ect just because of those couple of ass's.

It's a pain but this way but hopefully won't have the same problem again. I am so tired. I am off to bed. Curious.. Since you mentioned you are in Japan... How much does the eye shadow little pots of color from majorca cost..?? I can't find anyone in the US selling these. So I can only assume it's not availible here in our market. >_

I don't know. Can you get me a picture in the morning and I will look around for them? I'm not sure what you're talking about... but I love shopping, so... >_>;

I've matched the IP address in the email headers with the IP address captured on LJ. Hopefully that gives some solid proof.

Back to work I go, though! Thanks everyone.

She bought a poster from me before, but nothing bad happened--I honestly didn't know she's capable of doing something like this T____T
I feel so sorry for you ;___; Awwww....

Maybe the grandma has alhzheimers, haha, jk.
Hopefully you will get your money back. I'm sure Paypal will do something... was the transaction quite pricey? It is difficult trying to resolve such conflicts when not using such trading sites like eBay or so. Good luck to getting your monies back! Not sure you will be able to get the pick though back? :/
