mod post: we come bearing modly updates for everyone (◡‿◡✿)
Hi lovelies,

We bring you some news and updates. As always, we greatly appreciate any feedback that we get, so if you have any suggestions or constructive criticisms, don't hesitate to let us know

Summary:
1 & 2. Address issues related to scammers
3 & 4. Address issues related to community posting rules
5. Address GSJ Feedback Cafe

1. Last year, the mods suggested that buyers were to make all WTB posts member-locked, and we left it up to the members as to whether they wanted this implemented as an official rule or not.
The final verdict: No, do not require that all WTB posts are member-locked; instead, leave it to the discretion of the poster.
Result: As such, the mods at GSJ will take no action in enforcing our initial suggestion.

Backstory: There was an increase in incidents where scammers were able to bypass the GSJ mods' attention by contacting people through PMs, even though they were not a member of GSJ. When a person makes a wanted post here at GSJ, the scammer would reply in a PM that they had whatever item(s) the member was looking. Since all contact was through PMs, there was no opportunity for anyone to potentially notify the member that they are dealing with a scammer.

2. In the past, we had written a public service announcement regarding how to protect yourself from scammers here. We realize that this PSA had already been buried in the depth of time, so we have decided to add a link to this post in the sidebar.
Please take the time to read about the "How to Protect Yourself From Scammers" postWe would love additional suggestions for things that should be added!

3. It has finally occurred enough times for us to address this: If your post breaks any GSJ rule (no matter how little or small) and you have BOTH comments disabled and PMs turned off, your post is automatically deleted. You are still subject to the 1 post in 3 day rule.
This rule has officially been added at the bottom of the Community Posting Page.

4. This is just a gentle reminder that GSJ is an Asian-centered sales community. Please keep ALL parts of your post related to things that belong in this community. Please do not include personal stories in your posts; keep that at your personal journal, that is what it is there for. Anything posted here at GSJ should concern Asian and Asian-related items, ideas, anecdotes, etc.

5. The rules for becoming a 'Verified GSJ Seller/Buyer' has changed. Those who are currently verified will get to keep the cup :D
For more information, please visit this page for full details.

If you've read everything, thank you so much! If you have any questions, comments, suggestions, please leave a comment below.

Hello Mods! I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put a scammer warning but I place an order with the seller bonheur_fille over two months ago and have not received my items yet.

Hi,

I'm sorry this has happened to you. Please make a separate scammer post to the community with as much details as possible regarding your transaction (minus the personal infos) and tag it with the !scammer tag. You can see examples of past scammer posts here.

maryweather13 problems
Hi Mods! I'm not sure what to do about this. I was approached by maryweather13 to trade from my wantlist posted to GSJ. We agreed upon terms" books from her for a rare book and $$ from me. I mailed the book from my end, send the $$ and she got both. Left me positive feedback on my FB, then everything went sideways. She said she mailed the books from her end but they went back to her in AL instead of coming to me in WV. She confirmed she got them back, said she would reship, then changed the day she would reship. Then she flat out said she decided she would no longer do the trade (she had the book from me and the $$ at this time). Sent me a long PM about "her decision" to refuse to do the trade now. She sent back the rare book and returned the $$, but I was still out the $5 for shipping, my $$ was tied up for weeks with her and the whole situation was not a happy one. After a lot of thought, I posted a negative to her FB explaining the situation. Today (a few days after) she changed her positive feedback on my FB to neutral, claiming I agreed to cancel the transaction and left a negative for her out of the blue as retaliation of some kind (which I did not). She does not have any FB in the GSJ feedback cafe that I can tell but is a member of the group.
