I need advice!
I'm sorry if this isn't allowed, but I really need advice in this situation 0_0

I just opened my store last week, and a girl wanted to buy 2 of my mangas, but since I don't have any feedback she asked me to send them first (I was going to offer that but she beat me to it..). She would be my first sale, but I have sort of a bad feeling about this, she doesn't have any information/entries in her LJ. I'm actually selling them for my little sisters and would feel horrible if I just gave them away. So my question is, should I go ahead and sell them to her? I don't know, maybe this kind of situation happens alot and it works ok, I just want to make sure.

Thanks in advance! =D

Did she mean send them before paying? I think that honestly, you should have her pay first and then send it, regardless if you have no feedback or not. This is the first time I have heard of someone asking to send without paying.

Yeah she did, I guess I probably shouldn't since you've never heard of someone like that 0_0 thanks for your help!

Well, it's just like how in a regular store at the mall no one pays after getting their things, they pay first o_o;

You just can't be sure she'd actually pay you or not, a lot of people have been scammed here and on other communities in just trades, so imagine this for money :/
Erin La Rueerinlarue on October 26th, 2007 05:02 am (UTC)
true.. it would would be even worse because they're not mine 0_0

Yeah, you have to really be careful with any exchanges, whether it is a trade or sale.

I personally was in a christmas exchange once and my partner never sent a thing :/. I think it's worse though for actual money though, and it's even worse since the manga aren't even yours, but your sister's >_<;

Erin La Rueerinlarue on October 26th, 2007 05:20 am (UTC)
WHO COULD DO THAT AT CHRISTMAS?! that's so evil! i'm so sorry to hear that.

Personally, I don't think the person requesting the items should be able to send the money only after receiveing the items.

I've bought from people who did not have feedback, or some that I did not even care to read, and the transactions turned out perfectly fine. I did not have feedback before(not much now either)but all the buyers did not request for me to send first.

Alright then, I don't think I'll be sending them. Thank you so much <3

I thought about doing that, but I already have a hard enough time emailing her because she doesn't respond very often. Thank you for the advice! =D

Hm, considering the drama with new journals from a certain someone sprouting up, I would have her pay. Everyone needs to start somewhere.

Think of it this way; if you were new to ebay, would people expect you to send the item before they paid? No. This should be handled the same way. If she backs out of the sale, then fine. There are plenty of other buyers here who would be willing to give you a chance. :D

You're right, I suppose I assumed that everyone would want me to send first. I think that I'm going to be the one to back out of the sale, she doesn't respond to my emails very often. Come to think of it she worms her way out of my questions 0_0

anyways thank you so much! <3

I know everyone has already given their two cents but I just have to throw in mine too since I feel so strongly about it.

NEVAR. NEVAR SEND YOUR SHIZ FIRST. I don't care if it means losing a sale, I never have, and never will ship my stuff out before receiving payment, even it it's from someone who looks like they could be trusted.

That right there is another perfect sign.

Well thank you for your two cents =D I know for sure now I never will. I'm such a n00b ^^ thank you!

My two cents agree with yours. You can't go in to a store and take something, then come back and pay for it later, can you? Well then.

whats her lj name if you don't mind? i think the animefreek500 might be making a comeback and was wondering if it might be the person I'm thinking of.
Erin La Rueerinlarue on October 26th, 2007 06:38 pm (UTC)
I think it's konatan, I've never seen anyone with the name animefreak...

Absolutely not. Just tell her you're sorry you can't make a deal with her and move on.

I've only done that kind of thing once before, with an extremely expensive DVD that it was unlikely that I would be scammed over.

NOOO... ask the person nicely if they really want it... pay first then get the item,... or just as others said cannot make such deal... it is alright to reject her...

I always shop online, perfectly fine... with or without feedbacks.. I trust them..

and for my 2 cents... I always used to manage to keep it.. haha... take the 2 cents from shopping... but now... cannot calculate too wisely...

Don't do it :P Scammer!

^^; I'll add my two cents--maybe by the end of today, you'll have a dollar?

-> Go with your gut

-> If you're having issues contacting her, I'd pull out. I started selling only a few months ago, but I've discovered that dealing with an a****le who responds quickly is just an a****le, but a nice person who never responds to you is usually trying to scam.

->Always make them pay first, especially if they're doing it by paypal or something. Paypal almost always sides with the buyer, so if you tried to scam her (I'm not saying you are!) all she needs to do is go to Paypal and say 'Look, this person didn't send me my stuff. Check her delivery confirmation number', etc. If they're doing it by cash or MO, all the more reason to make them send first, because those are not documented!

I've heard of people who did trades having the one with less feedback send first, but I've heard much less often about people who do money transactions with the items sending first.

It doesn't seem too implausible to me though *shrugs*. I would ask someone to send first if I didn't trust the or they weren't making it easier for me to get in a transaction with them, and I've done a lot of business on LJ.

BUT if she is not replying to you often, it will drive you crazy, and it is not your stuff. So don't do it.
